Rachel Homburg (violin)



Rachel Homburg is a Core Player with Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, having commenced performing with the group in 2005. She is also a member of the Tailem Quartet.

She was appointed to a permanent position with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 2008.

Rachel studied for a number of years with William Hennessy at the University of Melbourne, completing a Master of Music in Performance in 2006. She also attended the Australian National Academy of Music in 2004 where she studied with Alice Waten.

As first violinist of the Tailem Quartet since 2003, she has studied at the Banff Centre in Canada and at the Yale University Chamber Music Summer School in Norfolk, USA. She also competed in the finals of the 2005 Australian National Chamber Music Competition, and the 2008 ARD International Music Competition in Munich, Germany.

Rachel has performed with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria, and has appeared as soloist with Australia Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra.
